I have just had a lovely relaxing holiday. I feel revitalized and recharged. While my two weeks away have been filled viewing stunning, scenery and chillaxing to the max. During the times I became a widow to the husband watching football World Cup matches. I couldn’t fully, keep away from sneaking a listen to the new music submissions that came streaming into my inbox. One EP I’ve particularly enjoyed during my time away is “Coming Alive” by Philadelphia raised, New York residing up-and-comer Frankie Silver. A professionally trained dancer forced to switch career path after sustaining an injury. Frankie turned his attention to making electronic-pop music as a distraction from the pain while undergoing surgery and subsequent therapy. I am mightily glad he found a new creative outlet to explore, and that it is music, of course, because the debut EP is pumping heat so to speak. Melodically bright and driven by a sensitive tone, with impressive vocal overlays.

The five-track release is fueled by, bass thumping styled electronic-pop, and is similarly suited for the radio as it is the dance floor, also. EP opener “Dance up on Me” is brazenly unabashed about both its EDM intentions and it’s pure saucy, lyrics which leave little to the imagination. The track is pure high energy, and a power which doesn’t shift in some form or another either lyrically or musically throughout the short duration of Frankie’s debut mini-album offering. In among the instant dance, floor slayers on the release is the somewhat subtler track “Part of You.” The songs softer style shimmers with charismatic synth-pop allure. The peaceful lyrical sentiment drifting on top of an insistent pulse: has a thought-provoking impact on the listener.

Coming Alive” is described by Frankie as “an extension of himself, an example to others that no matter what you may face along the way, you can find the silver lining if you change your mindset and channel your energy into something positive.”

Even without knowing about the inspirational story behind the making of this EP. I have no hesitation citing the effort as an accomplished debut body of work. The production is both deliberate, clever and personal, remaining focused to the last. You can feel that it pushes itself right up to the goalposts which Frankie set out to achieve. As debut achievements go “Coming Alive” is endearing, totally sincere and endlessly listenable.
